Library
Our library is a V.I.P. (very important place) in our school. It offers our students a place to learn and explore. Bruning’s classroom teachers work closely with our library staff for help with lesson planning. It is big, bright, and filled with wonderful children’s literature and non-fiction to help with core subjects and topics. Plan a visit to our library; you will have a wonderful experience!
Spotlight on Mem Fox
One of our favorite children’s book authors is Mem Fox. We have lots of her publications in our library and classrooms. Our students love her stories, such as The Little Dragon, Shoes from Grandpa, and A Giraffe in the Bath.
We really like her ten read-aloud commandments for parents and know that you will, too! You can find all of them on her website, but we’ve picked a few to share with you.
Spend at least ten wildly happy minutes every single day reading aloud. From birth!
Read at least three stories a day; it may be the same story three times. Children need to hear a thousand stories before they can begin to learn to read. Or the same story a thousand times!
Read aloud with animation. Listen to your own voice, and don’t be dull or flat or boring. Hang loose and be loud, have fun, and laugh a lot.
Read with joy and enjoyment; real enjoyment for yourself and great joy for the listeners.
Meet Our Librarian
Our librarian is Mrs. Danielle Stull. She is always available to answer questions and to lead us by the hand to the great resources in our library. Don’t hesitate to contact her if you need assistance helping your child with projects or research.
